CD Sunday Plus Challenge #43 - AGC - hosted by me.

I hope all are well and still happily crafting.  It has come round again with my turn to host the Challenge.   I am looking forward to visiting all the blogs of those who enter our challenge and choosing my Top 3.

Now here is my design team card:

A download stitch card from Stitching cards.  This could be for my granddaughter who will be 17 in November.  I find this fact very difficult to take in and/or believe.

These sort of stitch cards are quite hard to do as the hole pricking has to be so accurate because if it isn't the lines of the vehicle will be crooked.   From past experience, I can tell you that that looks awful.

I may yet change my mind and do something else for Ellie.  I have taken delivery of more Tattered Lace and I am so tempted.

La Pashe and die cuts for Christmas 2019

I have used yet more images from La Pashe CD's and this time just one die cut frame for all except one. I had fun with colours and gems.  I have now made at least half of the quantity I will need and I plan to make some stitch cards - for a change.

CD Sunday - Friendship, Love and Romance - chosen by Meg

It's that time again so Meg has chosen an appropriate theme.  For me it's a bit like Halloween.  I don't do  either (except Halloween ATCs) but in true team spirit I have made a card and here it is:

The stitch pattern comes from here and the gingham background pattern come from Robert Addams - Printable Gingham etc CD.
 I loved the stitch pattern especially the bees that I think look very realistic. I used a holographic thread for the wings hoping to give them some shimmer.
Robert Addams Printable Gingham patterns are so useful.  Different sorts of ginghams and lots of great colours. I have been using this CD for quite a while and very often. It is one of my 'go to' CD's.

You will see on the CD Sunday Blog that we have a new teamie - Jane.  Jane has been a Guest Designer in the past and has been helping us out whilst Pamela and Jocelyn have been MIA.  We have decided that we want her to stay and join us and we are pleased that she has said yes to our invitation.  There are now 8 of us and there will be 8 posting as soon as Pamela has rejoined us.
I know Valentines' day is only a couple of days away but your card can be a friendship card, an Anniversary card or just an 'I love you' card.  You don't have to wait until the 14th to say that .....or you could have one ready for next year!!

CD Sunday - 'Something New' - chosen by Pauline

Happy New Year to one and all.  If you have attended celebrations I hope that no heads are banging.

'Something New' is a good choice for the first challenge of our new year. There can be many new somethings.

I have chosen a few with my team contribution:

The CD I have used is by Robert Addams - Nautica.  Not a new CD as such but the background is from the CD and is one I have not used before.  The stitch pattern - 'Tall Ships' - is a new one to me. In fact I bought it for this very card.  The sails are stitched with a particular thread that I have not used before and the die I used for the sentiment is not new but this is the first time I have used it.

Does everyone keep those New Year resolutions that we seem to make so easily.  I sometimes think that I should make some and then don't bother or can't be bothered.  But this year I really want to start making my Christmas cards earlier and use my ever growing pile of groovi plates so perhaps I can combine the two.  So here is hoping that I can manage to keep my resolutions and that you can keep yours.
I look forward to another happy year of crafting, receiving visits on here and making visits elsewhere.  What a wonderful thing the WWW is.

More 'White Christmas'

CD Sunday - White Christmas - chosen by Margaret

I know that secretly in our hearts we would all like a white Christmas but with our practical heads on hope that we don't have one -  so we get our 'White Christmas' fix from cards and decorations and .songs

So for CD Sunday's new challenge Margaret has chosen 'White Christmas'.  Our team have made some beautiful cards and I am sure they will be of inspiration to you so please have a look here.

In the meantime here is my contribution

I used two of Robert Addams CD's - 'White Christmas' for the image and 'Christmas Carols' for the background.  I use these Christmas CD's quite often and I love the images from the first one and the backgrounds from the second.  The bridge with the lanterns has always been one of my favourite CD images and I have used it quite often.
I have added the deer, tree and sentiment diecuts.  Black mirri card for the deer and white card for the trees. Just plain gold card for the sentiment.  I also used black mirri card behind the image to act as a frame.
This was a very simple card to make and hopefully you will try it.  I can recommend Roberts CD's.  I have long been a fan.

CD Sunday - Father Christmas

The theme for our new challenge - starting today - has been chosen by Meg and it is 'Father Christmas'.  I am sure that by now you are all in the middle of a frantic Christmas card 'make' so this challenge will be right on the button - as it were. As long as a CD was used somewhere in the make and you tell us which one it was -  you will be in with a chance of the prize.
Now just to show off I used 3 CD's - all by Robert Addams - in the creation of my card:

I used 'Let it Snow' for the image, 'Christmas Trees' for the hessian background and 'Christmas Backing Papers' for the matt layer.
I added the red ribbon to the top corner just to give the idea of a hessian sack full of goodies being tied up. The hessian look backing paper looks great in real life - very realistic.

Russian Angel?

Whilst rooting through my box of Christmas card making goodies I came across some sheets of decoupage just waiting to be cut out.  They are of 'Angels' and they look in a Russian style to me.  I have had them so long that I cannot remember when I bought them or from where I bought them.
They are printed on beautiful paper and a real pleasure to cut out and are about 6/7 layers if you use them all.  I always use 1mm sticky pads so they are not too high.

I found a backing sheet from a Robert Addams CD that tones in with the background piece on the Angel so I have used that as the  card.

The green and gold coloured card used for the mats and the bows are from the new pad of adhesive papers ( Christmas and Winter) by DCWV that I bought a couple of weeks ago. I have added 3 gems to the bows.
I have two more of the Angels ready decoupaged but the hardest part is finding the right backing paper for them.  I may just put them on a white card - we'll see.

"Pipeworks"

is a new die and CD by Robert Addams and I have used the die to make a male birthday card.  Not displeased with the first effort but I think I could do better next time.
Next time it might be cooler and perhaps I could type without my glasses slipping off my nose.

CD Sunday - 'Colour Challenge' - chosen by Wynn

And what a 'Colour Challenge' Wynn has given us.

Surprisingly I knew where to go to find these colours and I went to a couple of favourite CD's - Robert Addams - Printable Butterflies and Artylicious - Butterfly Bliss for these ATC's I wanted to make.

I used Butterfly Bliss for the backgrounds and Printable Butterflies for  - of course - the butterflies. As I had to print out several sheets of different colours I now have made up many more for future projects - as long as I can find them again.

I think my fellow teamies have produced some beautiful cards and I hope you will go  visit and then suitably inspired -  join in with Wynn's challenge.

Christmas in parchment +++

More La Pashe printed on parchment - embossed and pricked. The die cuts were a purchase from E bay and the backing paper again from Robert Addams. The frame was made using MCS with its facility for changing colours. The glitter pen was used but hard to see in the photo.
I have just printed out some more images and found some new border designs - so I will see you later.

Christmas in Parchment ++

I am still using La Pashe CD images and MCS and this time with some background card from Robert Addams.
I am enjoying this type of card making and at the same time trying to make each a little different.  As well as the embossing on here I have added some very pretty stick on gems that I bought from The Art Of Craft.  The corner triangles on the frame have been stippled.

CD Sunday - Stamp-It

Good morning.  The weeks seem to be flying by and do we really have only 10 days to go before Christmas Eve?
I am going to boast now as  all my cards are made and those that needed posting have been posted.  One in the post is my card for this challenge set by Sue - Stamp-It.  I don't do a great deal of stamping these days so it was quite a challenge for me.
Here is my achievement and I hope you like it.

I used a wooden backed stamp and a Versafine Onyx black ink pad with some added glitter for the image.The background came from Robert Addams - Christmas Trees CD and the tag from Carol Ann's Studio - Midi CD-11.  The bow is Sue Wilson's Itty Bitty Bow.
 I had cut out the image with the largest die in the set I was using but I wanted a mat for it so I drew around the outside of the die on the red card  and cut out by hand.  It just gave enough to frame the image.

As we are now posting fortnightly and and our next and last challenge for this year  will be on the 28th December I would like to wish all our followers and contributors a very Happy Christmas.

1st September - so 1st Christmas cards

I have started on the mammoth Christmas card make. My Grandaughter was with me this morning as I was finishing off one of the cards (the old gentleman in the bed) and I had just attached the bow and held it up for her to look at.

Her lovely comment was. "Yes Grandma - so simple but so elegant".  She is 10!!

Here is my so simple yet elegant card.

 She didn't see the next one so I was spared any comments.

Can you spot a theme here?  The dies used for the mats are by Marianne.  The bow is by Sue Wilson and the Merry Christmas is a new Robert Addams die.  The CD used is of course - La Pashe.

CD Sunday - We are Sailing

Good Morning.  Thank you to those who managed to join in our Three D's Challenge despite it being such a busy time for everyone.  I will give my choices to Jenny to be published in due course.

The theme for this fortnight - the last of 2013 - has been chosen by Sue T.   I took the opportunity to use this theme to make a Birthday card for my Son in Law who is in the Royal Navy  - and here it is:

I made a gatefold card using Robert Addams new Nautica CD.  The sailing ship was printed out on photo paper which seem to enhance the beautiful blues of the sea and sky.  The backing paper is from the CD and is one of so many fabulous papers. I even splashed out - ha ha - on a set of Roberts' Nautical dies - the anchor, rope and wheel.

The team are looking forward to new things in 2014 and we hope that you will continue to support us.  More from Jenny in due course.

CD Sunday - Travels Abroad

Thank you for your entries to our challenge last week.  I did think it was going to be a tad difficult but you all came up trumps again.  Lovely cards.  Now Sue is going to find it difficult to choose  just 3 from them all.
This weeks theme is 'Travels Abroad' chosen by Christine.  Now it was my turn to find it difficult.  I am sure I am not the only crafter  who finds sometimes that they have an idea and start to go down that road only to reach a complete impassse and there seems to be no way out -  or to work out what  final tweak is needed to put it right.
My fellow teamies came to the rescue and pointed me in the right direction after telling me nicely that I was being too critical -  and hopefully the result isn't too bad.

The tweak suggested was to change the colour of the watch face and I think it made all the difference.

I used Robert Addams - Vintage Transport CD for the three train 'stamps'. Tim Holtz papers for the rest and the watch die is also from  Robert Addams.

I am off on my own travels abroad in the not too distant future.   My sister is kindly taking me off to France for a few days shopping.  I am looking forward to the break and some serious retail therapy.

CD Sunday - Transportation

Good Morning to everyone.  A lovely weekend here in the South after a late night thunderstorm on Friday.  It didn't last long enough to cool everything down but it did water the garden.

On a personal note - the count down to my op has started.  I now have a final date (20th August)  - the last of 4 alterations and change of hospital - and I have my pre - op assessment and physio consult on Tuesday.  Let's hope I pass after all this.

CD Sunday - Go Green

Good Morning, good morning, good morning etc... as Stephen Fry would say on QI.  One of my favourite programmes. Well he says Good Evening etc but that would be a bit silly.
I had a lovely day yesterday at the workshop but now down to business.
Jenny had chosen a theme (in rotation) before her sabbatical and we all wanted to continue with it so here it is.  I chose to recycle and use green.  It is called hedging your bets.

The beautifully made topper was on a  Get Well card that I was sent by a friend who doesn't  make her own cards but always manages to find stunning hand finished cards from somewhere. The gingham background is from that great standby CD by Robert Addams - Printable Ginghams etc. The die for the bow is a new acquisition.  Comes of seeing all these new things I haven't got (well didn't have) when visiting all the Blogs as part of my team duties.

CD Sunday - 'Thank You'

Good Morning.  Hopefully a little drier than it has been over the last couple of days.

Thank you to those who entered  the CD Sunday Challenge that I sponsored last week.  The team and I will enjoy looking at all the cards again and choosing a winner.

The CD Sunday theme this week is 'Thank You' - chosen by fellow teamie Beryl.  A good choice Beryl as we can never have enough of this kind of card in our 'something I made earlier' box.

For my card I used two CD's.  First Docrafts Boofle Collection for the card which is a tag and sentiment enlarged to A5 size. Second CD was Robert Addams  'Printable Gingham etc' which supplied the decoupaged flower.  Just a few gems and a small piece of pink ribbon completed the card.

I have exactly a week now before the '0' birthday and I am getting a little excited.  I think the family have something planned for the day.  I do know that they have bought me a Kindle Fire HD so of course I am looking forward to opening that parcel.

CD Sunday - Land of the Pharaohs

Second week of March and more sunshine than showers at last.  I am enjoying the milder weather now that I am able to drive out and about again.  I have had to accept some movement restrictions  as a consequence of my accident but I think my own Annus Horribilus is over.
Thank you for all the super entries in our Butterfly challenge last week.  This week the choice is mine - Land of the Pharaohs. I love all things Egyptian.  Have visited Egypt once and would love to go again but probably won't make it.
Here is my card

I have used a  Robert Addams CD - Ancient Egypt - for all of the card.  The card was printed using one of the backing papers and the matching topper was printed on parchment and embossed in appropriate places.  The sentiment says 'Happy Birthday' and I used the interactive heiroglyphic feature.
The top right and bottom left figures have been decoupaged and bronze mirri card used for the mat.
We have some wonderful cards from my fellow teamies on the Challenge Blog so please go and visit them and then we hope that you will join in with your own wonderful interpretations.
