UKSN Facebook

This weekly challenge is #21.

Theme: Angels
Colour: Yellow
Letter: L

This is my creation.  Not a card this time but an ATC.  I hope the recipient (winner of the draw) won't be too disappointed to get an ATC and not a card.

My little Angel was done in parchment.  I drew round a stamped image with a black pen and then embossed and coloured.  'Halo' is die cut from a sheet of gold glitter card.  I used my tiny set of alphabet dies by Marianne that is perfect for ATCs and other small things.  I have added glitter to her Halo and her wings.
There is a matching stamp that has the Angel with her halo on straight and looking Angelic but I prefer this one.

Flower basket - 'Thank You' card - pattern by Judith Maslen

Here is a card made using a Judith Maslen download pattern called 'Thank You' but I have changed it to 'Happy Birthday'. I have also changed the border shape and the grid pattern.

This is my second attempt at the card. I didn't like my first interpretation hence a second go with changes. The first try of the central image was saved and is now an ATC.  The image was a perfect ATC size. So rather than waste it, which would have been a shame, I just found a background with all the info needed on the back.

I enjoyed changing the border and the grid.  I had to think about what would work.  It took my mind off the heat which was tremendous here yesterday.

Here is the ATC.  Nothing added - just used some brads to fix to the ATC back.

Hope you like it.  I enjoyed working and trying to keep cool.

ATC Swap UK (Facebook)

I have just sent in my swaps for the August swap - 'Pot Luck'.
Having this theme means that we can send in ones we have made earlier and our organiser - Sue - kindly arranged this to help me out.
So I have sent in 5 from my 'stash' - all made in parchment.  Hope the girls like them.

These were all parchment using Groovi and PCA plates. Easter Bonnets.

ATC Swop UK

Just catching up with posting the most recent ATCs  I have made for the Facebook group - ATC Swop UK.

These first ones were for the November theme - Halloween/Bonfire Night

These have all been swopped and sent out by our brilliant organisers Sue and husband (the Slave).

Next are for the current swop - Alice in Wonderland - which - as always - is for the two months over Christmas and the New Year - December /January.

These were made using parchment and MCS.

I am looking forward to receiving my swops and to another year of making and swopping - all organised by the wonderful Sue and 'The Slave'.

Just a few more ATCs

Thought I would post a few of my recent and older  ATC makes. They are some I have made for a  swop group to which I belong.

A couple of parchment Clowns. The image was from the internet. I printed out onto parchment and then did some embossing.

The next one is 'E' is for....I chose E.T.    I actually have a talking E.T. and I took a photo and added some googly eyes.

This one was for 'The Wild West

And lastly this one was for the theme 'Fruity.'
I love making these little treasures. Great to do when you  feel like just exploring and fiddling.

CD Sunday - 'Do what you love' - chosen by Pamela

Although teamie Pamela is still 'on leave' she has managed to choose a theme for our new challenge and a good one it is.  You can choose any subject and style to show off what you love most but do remember to use something from a CD in your creation.

Here is my own creation:

I particularly like combining my love of parchment with my love of making and swopping ATCs.
So here are four ATCs made using parchment butterflies  which have been made using a Pergamano grid and stitched to the background with beads.  I love beads as well.  I have hundreds possibly thousands if you count all the seed beads individually.  I must have been a Magpie in another life.
Today whilst I was preparing and thinking about doing this post and the CD Sunday one I also made a Banana loaf cake - another love of mine - the baking and the eating.
The backgrounds come from a CD -  Artylicious Butterfly Bliss by Glenda Waterworth.

I do hope you will enjoy Pamela's challenge and I look forward to visiting your Blogs - and perhaps you might be kind enough to leave me a comment or two.
Hugs

ATC Swop UK - April Swop

Our swop for this April is 'Things with Wings'.  We have recently gained a gentleman ATC maker in our midst and in deference to him our leader decided on a theme that could be followed in a more masculine way so with aeroplanes, birds and such like in mind we have 'Things with Wings'.  The 5 that  I have chosen to do I have made before but these are all freshly and especially made. (sounds like a batch of biscuits).
Here they are:

This is how I have presented them.  When they appear on the Facebook page they have a far superior background and proper wording.
They are all parchment and some of my favourite images to do so it was no hardship to make fresh ones.

ATC Swop UK

Now just waiting for my swop ATC's to come.  Shouldn't be too long although there is a lot of organising for Sue and 'Slave' - the lady and husband  in charge.
We had a choice of Egyptian or Oriental for November and I chose Egyptian.
This is how mine were presented on Facebook.

I chose to do the Egyptian mini theatres from Joanna Sheen's CD 'Egyptian Adventure'. They are just the perfect size for an ATC. I have made these before and it was a good excuse to make them again.
Here is my photo of them before I sent them off.

Our theme over December/January is 'Winter Wonderland'  and here are the ones I have made and sent off ready for that swop at the end of Janaury.  These are all parchment.

The last one is using an image from an Ooh La La CD.  Other drawings and backgrounds are from various places.

ATC Swop UK

The group theme for February is 'Colour Blue and here are the ones I have made and they will be in the post tomorrow.

Usually about 25 people enter from 3 to 5 ATC's so the organisers have quite some work to do at the end of the month.  It is always organised beautifully.

Hope they like them.

Parchment ATC's

I am now winding down after the Christmas card making marathon.  All now made and ready to post. Now some time to play before the festivities.  I am lucky that I don't have any preparations to do as I will be away.  Just need to take my share of goodies and that is easily done.

So I have been adding some more ATC's to my stock.
These first two use a couple of monogram patterns I came across in an old Parchment Magazine - 2002.  This was before I had even heard of Parchment Craft. The  article was by Dorothy Holness - in my opinion Dorothy is the Goddess of Parchment Craft.  I have been very lucky to have met Dorothy socially and also to have attended one of her workshops.  A wonderful teacher.

These were done fairly quickly as an experiment and I hope to improve greatly on future ones.

And these are more of the butterflies.  Just using different color inks.

ATC's - a change from Christmas cards

I started these on Saturday evening whilst Strictly was on and then finished them  during the results. I must admit to not having been so enthralled with Strictly this year as in the past.
Anyway -  ATC's

I have traced out about another dozen to do.  Anything but housework!!

ATC Swop UK

Our September theme is 'Teddy Bears'.  There always seem to be many images of Teddy Bears on CD's, on the internet and decoupage sheets etc so this one didn't present too many difficulties.  I did 5 again .....  3 stitched bears and 2 parchment bears.
Here is the picture that was shown on the Facebook Group page.  It always looks so much better than any picture  I can produce so I have copied and pasted and here they are.

The stitch patterns are from Stitching Cards and the brown parchment teddy was traced from a Judith Maslen pattern and the 'white on pink' bears come from the Parchment Magazine.

New beads

My favourite bead supplier sent me a flyer about some new beads they had in so I sent off for two small packets to try. They are called CzechMates Lentil beads.  I like to combine beads with parchment and stitchcards.
Here is the parchment ATC that I made.

I love the effect of using beads.  There are so many beautiful beads to choose from these days and I wish I had the time to learn the art of jewellry making with beads.  I just love looking at the shapes and colours.  Perhaps I was a Magpie in an earlier life.

I enjoyed using the beads.  With the two holes and the fact that they sit flat made them easy to use.  I have now ordered some more colours.

Off to make some more.

ATC Swop UK

I have recently joined an ATC  Facebook Group  - in fact this is my first month and the theme for July is 'Roses and Pearls'.
You can enter from 1 to 5 (no more) and I struck the middle balance and made 3.  Here they are:

I used some  internet images of roses in vases and then made a very simple parchment background  for them adding extra colour in the centre oval.  I used some new tiny button brads in a toning green to fix the parchment to the ATC backs.

Now the biggest surprise to me was how wonderfully our efforts are presented by the  husband of the swop hostess Sue.    Here is how mine appeared on the Facebook page.

Wow.  They look so much better than they did when I put them in the envelope.
I can't wait to see what the theme is for August.  It is chosen by a poll.

Bristol Parchment Exhibition 2014

It is all over now and I am safely back home. The weather was glorious - in fact a little too warm for the Exhibition itself yesterday.  I think perhaps some consideration  could be given next year to providing some  cooling fans or some such.  It is difficult to work on parchment when your hands are hot and sticky.
Any way back to the show itself and the exquisite pieces of parchment on display and their creators.  It was all fabulous but some was jaw droppingly good.
Lots and lots of lovely people stopped by to chat whilst Jenny (fellow pupil) and I were working on our tutors stand.  Jenny was creating a wonderful lacy piece and I was working on some ATC's.
Here are the ones I managed to complete on the day:

Two of the lovely people I met and chatted to were Margaret and her husband.  It was great to see Margaret looking so well after all her trials and tribulations.  We managed to chat for quite a while.  I see on her blog that there are many photo's of some of the exhibits.  I did have my camera but didn't really have the time to take any pictures.  So thank you Margaret.  It will give a good idea of what was on offer.  This will be the third time I have met Margaret at the show and I look forward to many more such chats.

I look forward to next years event - especially as I get to spend some more time with my sister.  I am off now to put the washing in and then perhaps play with a few of my new toys.  Parchment and others. (We visited the new Lakeland store at Cribbs Causeway).

It is that time again

for the annual Bristol Parchment Craft Exhibition.  It is on this Sunday - 22nd June - 9.30am - 5pm - at Brunel's Old Station - Bristol.  Right next door to Temple Mead Rail Station.  After what happened to me year before last I tend to approach this event with some trepidation.  My sister lives in Bristol so I am going down early to spend a few relaxing days in her company.

I will be with my Tutor - Marilyn Pybus on her stand - and I will be making some parchment ATC's. Just what ever style takes my fancy

As I am travelling tomorrow I have been getting all my parchment tools and 'stuff' together today and couldn't resist having a play........

I hope to have more to show when I get back next week.

Have a lovely weekend and I'll catch up with you all later.
